install couchdb on amazone standard AMI for AWS EC2

you don't have to install EPEL.

1. sudo yum install ncurses-devel openssl-devel icu libicu-devel js js-devel curl-devel erlang erlang-devel libtool

2. mkdir svn; cd svn; svn checkout couchdb

3. cd couchdb; ./bootstrap

You need to install SpiderMonkey.

you may need to add a yum repository. Add rpmforge.repo in /etc/yum.repos.d containing:

# Name: RPMforge RPM Repository for Red Hat Enterprise 5 - dag
# URL:
name = Red Hat Enterprise $releasever - - dag
baseurl =
enabled = 1
protect = 0
gpgcheck = 0

(Put "x86_64" instead of "i386" if when appropriate.)

Now run:

yum clean all
yum install js-devel

4. ./configure --with-erlang=/usr/lib/erlang/usr/include && \
make && \
make install
